Once the epicentre of academic medical research at the University of Toronto, the Banting and Best buildings have been given a new lease on life as the Banting and Best Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
The buildings (50,000 square feet) are currently being filled with companies that have spun out of research done at the University in addition to organizations dedicated to the process of commercializing research.
The Banting and Best Centre supports entrepreneurs turning research discoveries into innovative products and companies that create skilled jobs for students and the province. As of September 2012, private sector companies in the Centre had 63 employees.
In addition to lab and office space for start-up companies, Banting and Best’s centres of commercialization provide aspiring entrepreneurs with education, mentorship, and resources to support their company. For more details, look in our Programs page.
Techna and the Centre for Commercialization of Regenerative Medicine continue to champion medical research from Banting and Best, and have a focus to translate that research into products that will directly impact patients.
Space is limited and high demand is expected. If you are seeking office or laboratory space to commercialize your research please contact us for more information or to arrange for a tour of the buildings.
